When I was a middle schooler I wanted to be a fighter pilot, so here is my middle school dream job question. Enjoy.
1) The Boeing 767 flies at a cruising speed of 520 miles per hour. The speed of sound is approximately 760 miles per hour. The mach scale is a ratio that is used to express speed. Mach 1 is the speed of sound and mach 2 is twice the speed of sound. What is the speed of a 767 in the mach scale?
2) The fastest plane is NASA's x-43a. It can fly at mach 9.6 (so cool I know). What is the speed of the x-43a in miles per hour?
3) If New York and San Fransisco are about 5,000 mile apart, then how long will it take each plane to fly from NY to SF (excluding time to take off and land).
4)
